tition, making him the first bassoonist to win this prize.
Andrew Kohn, who has been on faculty in a part time capacity since 1995 will join the Division full time as a visiting assistant professor teaching string bass and theory .  Peter lives in the Pittsburgh area and regularly performs with the Pittsburgh Opera and Ballet Theatre Orchestras.  He is widely respected as a composer and theorist.

The Division has also hired a new staff member to head the recording studio.  Kathy Pugh, BM 2001 from WVU, came on board in July after working for WVU Creative Productions for the past academic year.  She brings with her an excellent working knowledge of the production studio and will contribute significantly to the Division in this important archival position.

In a final bit of faculty news, Kathy Shannon, director of the WVU Choral Program, has been promoted to the rank of associate professor with the award of tenure.  Under her leadership, the choral program has grown in size and stature over the past several years.  Several new vocal ensembles have been added, including the jazz harmony group "Same Difference".
