With the challenge of yearly decreasing membership in a consumer driven society, the Executive Board of the MAA has endorsed a series of new initiatives expanding the number of services to dues paying members and music alumni at large. 
The foundation of our offerings will be built on increasing the communication from MAA to all music alumni, with special emphasis to members of the organization.  On page 6 of this issue of
Con Moto you will find a list of new initiatives that will be phased in and evaluated over the next calendar year.
One exciting area of growth over the next several years will be the development of a MAA webpage.  The focal point of the webpage will be a job post, allowing alumni to post open positions (teaching, performing, etc) in their geographic area. We are all well aware of the value of networking in today's job market, and this will allow Mountaineers around the nation to help each other seek out employment.  The webpage will also have a section to post class notes (now dubbed Riff Rap for all the jazz folks), periodic news updates from the Division, photos from

CAC Undergoing a Physical Renaissance

No, its not the African Music Ensemble practicing for an upcoming concert.  Those strange sounds you hear are the hammers and saws of construction workers changing the face of the CAC.
The renovation project, slated for completion in December 2003, has multiple phases and will result in upgrades to the Concert Theatre, Choral Recital Hall and

main lobby, as well as asbestos abatement and installation of a new sprinkler system.
The twelve-month faculty and staff have moved for the summer from their offices and the contractor has sealed the entire building, allowing the abatement work to progress in the most effective, safe and
